WHERE YOU CAN WORK IN NSW
We have roles across the state, from the Murrumbidgee Region to the Mid North Coast, South Coast and Northern NSW. This ranges from larger regional cities like Albury, Newcastle and Wollongong, to smaller towns with fewer services like Lismore and Bathhurst – or somewhere really off the beaten track like Norfolk Island. We also have roles in correctional facilities.
Wherever you go, you'll get valuable experience, make a real difference and have an adventure to remember!
country townS, bush clinics or regional hospitals
We carefully match your skills and experience with the role and facility.
That means if you are just starting out, you could be placed in a general ward of a regional hospital to help broaden your skills. Or you may have what it takes to operate in rural clinics and more remote settings.
Not sure what to expect in each setting? Learn what the difference is between regional, rural and remote nursing.
WHAT SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE DO YOU NEED?
You'll need the right experience, skills, and a sense of adventure for these types of roles – and the ability to think on your feet. A love for adventure and a passion for making a difference are also a must!
Regional roles are in well-equipped facilities, serving communities in vibrant towns or regional cities. Here you will need at least three years of clinical experience after graduating as a minimum, with additional certifications a bonus but not essential. For rural and remote roles you will need more experience in primary health clinics and small rural facilities. Additional certifications and/or training are also often required to be eligible for these types of settings.
In terms of specialties, facilities in NSW need acute care, aged care, corrections, drug and alcohol, Emergency Department (ED), general surgical, High Dependency Unit (HDU), Intensive Care Unit (ICU), mental health, renal and theatre nurses. If you are interested in working on Norfolk Island, this community needs aged care nurses, GP nurses, ED, EN’s and rural generalists.
