CRITERIA FOR REGIONAL NURSING
Regional nursing allows you to work in well-equipped facilities, serving communities in vibrant towns or small cities. Here's what you'll need:
- At least three years of clinical experience after graduating.
- Current unrestricted registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a registered nurse.
- Advanced Nursing Qualifications, such as a master's degree in nursing or a relevant specialty will be desirable for some roles but not essential.
- Post-graduate qualifications in specialties like emergency nursing, critical care, or mental health will be desirable for some roles but not essential.
- Right to work in Australia without any restrictions.
- Certifications in triage are favourable for ED roles.
- Advanced Life Support (ALS) may be required for some roles or placements.
- A collaborative mindset and a commitment to fostering strong community connections.
CRITERIA FOR RURAL AND REMOTE NURSING
Rural and remote nursing takes your skills and experience to the next level. These roles require a broader scope of practice and a high degree of autonomy. You'll need:
- At least three years of clinical experience after graduating.
- Current unrestricted AHPRA registration.
- Exposure to acute care and aged care.
- Experience working in primary health clinics, small rural facilities or Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
- Experience working autonomously with decisive decision-making skills.
- Post-graduate certificates or advanced qualifications in emergency nursing or critical care will be desirable but not essential.
- A Remote Area Nursing Certificate and 4WD manual driving skills are advantageous and may be required for some roles.
- Right to work in Australia without any restrictions.
- Current certifications in Remote Emergency Care (REC), Maternity Emergency Care (MEC), Pharmacotherapeutics, Immunisation and Advanced Life Support (ALS).
- Training in chronic disease management, suturing, phlebotomy and wound care are favourable.
